Hi, I’m Emilie!

I’m a non-fiction ghostwriter, book coach, and editor. I build deep and genuine relationships with my authors based on mutual respect, kindness, love, and sincerity.

I’m a master at capturing voice and tone.

I listen. I’m reliable. I’m quick.

And my clients say I’m pretty fun to work with, too.

“Emilie really listens. And active, engaged listening is the most powerful gift we can have as humans.”

Gracie Edwards | Executive Assistant to Schuyler Williamson, ghostwriting client and book collaborator

Some more backstory on my writing journey:

I started as a freelance writer in 2006, right after I graduated from Colorado College with an English and Creative Writing degree. In the beginning, writing was merely a side hustle as I was building a personal training business and running a wilderness adventure camp for Young Life. During this time, I worked with a myriad of nonprofits, marketing agencies, and individual entrepreneurs to create all sorts of content.

However, books were always my first love (the Goosebumps books, in particular). I always wondered how I could become “one of those people” who write books for other people. How does one go about becoming a ghostwriter? I wondered.

During the pandemic, I was walking the streets of my hood (like so, so many others) when I literally ran into an old friend. She was working for a hybrid publisher who happened to be on the hunt for ghosts. I applied that same week and, within the month, was typing away at my first manuscript.

It didn’t take long for me to realize this was what I was made to do. I get to spend hours interviewing people, asking questions, and putting pieces of their knowledge puzzle together. I love exploring ideas, diving deep, making connections, hearing stories, and yes—writing too! (I also really, really love jigsaw puzzles and I am convinced that writing a book is just like putting a giant, 50,000-piece puzzle together.)

I pride myself on my ability to read faster than anyone I personally know and would choose reading a book over watching TV any day of the week (my children once told me I needed to give up reading for Lent). When I don’t have my head stuck in a book, I’m probably off the grid in the mountains of Colorado somewhere with my favorite humans—camping, rafting, hiking, or sitting in a camp chair enjoying the view.

"Emilie is an incredible creative partner, wrangling sprawling concepts into clear sequence, drawing precise connections, and questioning her authors to go as deep as possible into their wisdom. As a writer, she's a chameleon, able to craft her style to fit the distinct and authentic voices of her authors. As a professional, she delivers work of the utmost quality on deadline every time. Emilie asks insightful questions to clarify her understanding, and advocates for what each book needs to be the best representation of the author's life's work. Emilie does all of this with unfaltering optimism, enthusiasm, and compassion, and commits all her talents to every project she takes on."
